Popocatepetl
This is one of the most active volcanoes in Mexico is in the territorial limits of Morelos, Puebla and Mexico, is linked with the northern part Iztaccíhuatl through a mountainous area known as the passage of Cortes. It is the second highest volcano in Mexico, with a maximum height of 5500 meters above sea level, only after the Pico de Orizaba to 5610 meters. To date, since 1354 there have been 18 eruptions. On December 21, 1994 was a explosion gas and ash that were transported by wind over 25 miles away. The last violent eruption was in 2000 which led to the evacuation of thousands of people in places near the volcano. On December 25, 2005 an explosion occurred which formed a column of smoke and ash of about 3 km, which also provoked expulsion of lava, this year on June 3, Popocatepetl expelled vents without causing riots in high esteem. This volcano has glaciers near the mouth of the cone at the tip. The name meaning "POPOCATEPETL" is "MONTAÑA QUE HUMEA".
